Jessica Baker was an absolute pleasure to work with. We initially sat down with her to lay out our 3-4 year vision of acquiring property on the Westside. She treated us as though we were her top priority from day 1 even though it would likely be many years until we became clients. She asked great questions, listened intently, and advised us wisely on the specific areas of the Westside we should focus on. She had an incredible amount of knowledge on so many properties and developments. Unexpectedly a property hit the market and popped up in our email as a potential match. Again..we were 3-4 years out from being ready...or so I thought. 2 1/2 months after sitting with Jessica we made an offer on a property and opened escrow. She stepped up big time and took on full ownership of every aspect of the due diligence and closing process. She advocated and negotiated for us like a true pro. Her positive, upbeat attitude and outlook gave us confidence we were going to make the dream of Westside Maui ownership a reality. I feel we became friends in the process and truly believe our Westside life will include an occasional meetup with Jessica to enjoy a cocktail hour or even a Saturday morning swim at Airport Beach.

It took a while for us to start this review because we know words won’t do Jessica justice. She is simply great at what she does. After too many years of waiting, we finally made the decision to move our family to Maui. We somehow came across Jessica’s information online after talking with several other realtors on Maui. After speaking with Jessica, we knew she was the right fit for us given her experience, positivity, and demeanor. Since our home search would be performed remotely, we were seeking someone to be honest with us and that would challenge us in the event we got tunnel-vision at any point in the buying process — someone that would keep it real and be our teammate rather than an impersonal, transactional agent. Jessica was the perfect fit. Our home search started remotely from the mainland in the midst of the crazy market in October of 2021. After flying out to Maui on short-notice on a weekend, Jessica spent several of her weekend days to bring us on neighborhood tours on Maui. While we were familiar with neighborhoods on Maui after visiting for many years, Jessica provided invaluable context that only a local would know for different neighborhoods and areas of the island that we just weren’t aware of. This helped provide clarity and a deeper understanding of listings when they popped up during our search. In November, our spirits were almost broken when a deal fell through on a property due to a seller’s behavior — nothing that was Jessica’s fault. Jessica helped us to remain positive through this “loss”. While we didn’t believe it when she said it, she insisted a better house for us would come. From November to January, Jessica drove to several other houses on our behalf, providing detailed and honest video tours at each property. Around this time, the Maui market exploded. Prices were increasing drastically week-to-week, and, as a kicker, interest rates increased. At the rate prices were increasing, we were fearful that we were almost priced out of Maui. Jessica helped to keep us grounded and talked us out of panic-offers on several houses that just weren’t the right fit. In January, Jessica promptly got into a home to tour it for us right when it hit the market. While it wasn’t what we were originally looking for, it unexpectedly fit all of our needs in a great neighborhood. With Jessica’s advice, we were able to place such competitive offer that the seller accepted it without reviewing any other offers. While we were impressed with Jessica before our offer was accepted, we were even more impressed with her through the escrow period. Our closing was performed in one month after contract date. In that one month, Jessica kept everything organized for us, suggested awesome inspectors and contractors and timely scheduled them, and ensured we were aware of each milestone to closing. We finally closed in February 2022! Jessica helped make our dream come true in an awesome home and even better neighborhood. After closing, Jessica still continued helping us, providing us with an amazing contact to help maintain our home. My husband and I had our honeymoon in Maui and fell in love with the island. :) When we decided to purchase our second home in Kihei, the decision was exciting but also overwhelming as we are new to the real estate market in Hawaii. Jessica is wonderful. I actually found her on Yelp and the great reviews about her were true and thensome. She was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the process. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted and I think even she was surprised by how detail-oriented I was, but she rolled with it every step of the way. She was extremely diligent about getting info about each property we considered and ensuring I was fully-informed about issues specific to that property (HOA/shoreline erosion/etc.). Jessica is definitely not a realtor who just tries to sell you the first thing that comes up...she is very intuitive and very focused on getting clients what they want even if it means a longer process (my process took about 6 months). Although her office is in Lahaina area and she specializes in West Maui (which is where I was looking and ultimately bought), I was amazed by her extensive knowledge of the Kihei/Wailea market too. Each time I would ask her about a new listing in that area, she immediately knew why it would or wouldn't work for me. I really wanted an oceanfront property with head-on ocean views from all rooms that was within 100 ft of the water and she found me a property that is just that. She also went way above and beyond even after we were in escrow by providing advice on things like furnishings, management companies, etc. Jessica is definitely one of the best realtors I have dealt with and I highly recommend her to anyone considering buying on Maui.
